01 f150 small v8 won't start
oil, coolant, abs and check engine lights on, even with no key. motor cranks but will not start. has about 130K miles - been a great work truck. i know the oil is low. is there a fail-safe "no start if oil is low" on this truck? no info in owners manual. (coolant level is ok.)
thanks, mike |

Re: 01 f150 small v8 won't start
All those lights point to some kind of gross failure, I would hook an OBD-II box up to the plug under the steering wheel and pull the codes out of it, they should tell you what is wrong.

Re: 01 f150 small v8 won't start
more info - my son had a great idea to disconnect the battery - wait then reconnect. Now it will start! Dash lamps stay on, but I think I'll take it to a shop.....
Thanks, |

Re: 01 f150 small v8 won't start
Update -
Shop said wires deep inside steering column - they've seen it a few times before. Replaced steering column w/ used - all working OK now. Hope this helps someone in the future... |
