Our 900 mile journey thru Colorado Rockies...

we kind of zig-zagged, having no real 100% destination over the course of Labor Day weekend. Our mission was to head out to the flat-tops and work our way around, with one goal in mind...to get away from this souring HEAT of late!!

We started in Rifle, Co visiting Rifle Gap Falls (been in a lot of movies); moving our way north to the Yampa River corridor, through Steamboat Springs visiting Steamboat and Stagecoach Lakes, then zig-zagged back out west to the little railroad towns of Bond and McCoy, where my grandmother grew up and married my grandfather, who then began working on the railroad up/down the Colorado River along that stretch.

Here are some pics:

A pic of our 3 demonds - 2 poms and a chihuahua/Dachsund mix; they were supposed to be resting in the camper after a long day of walking/hiking

Our 1st night stay at a Yampa River camp-ground along highway 40

Re: Our 900 mile journey thru Colorado Rockies...

Tried to get the hole house in this pic - it was a beautiful place, this is our dream turf, horses included...

Just some nice Aspen trees

This is the stretch of highway from McCoy to Bond, Colorado - Colorado river flows high through here

This is the replacement bridge for the ole Colorado State bridge

Couldn't resist to take this shot of our next dream rig for camping/hauling; the one we should've bought - black one-ton Dodge dually, instead of our 3/4 ton; at least our engines are of the same cummins beast. Thought it was a sweet looking truck - he was flying too.
