Replacing struts on my 92 Geo Metro

Hey everyone. I finally got all the parts I needed a couple days ago to change my struts/strut mounts/strut boots on my Geo Metro. It took me roughly 2 hours to do the front...that's all I did so far. But the old struts...you could push them down, and they had no compression at all to come back up, they'd stay down. I think they definitely needed to be changed, seems like they were bad/dead and NEEDED to be changed. With the new ones, it seems like the front of the car is about an inch higher or so than it used to be, which is a good thing. I was wondering why the car was leaning so much around turns...I suppose it was acting like it had no shocks, just the suspension springs...lol.

Anyway, tomorrow I will do the back. I did the front first, because that's the hardest. Seemed really easy though...a lot easier than I thought it would be. The back should be a breeze once I get the knuckle bolts loose.

Once you get all 4 done Dan.....Last step is to take the car in for a "4 Wheel Alignment".

Re: Replacing struts on my 92 Geo Metro

Well I did the back two...so easy, lol. Took less than an hour and a half. Yeah, I plan on next week taking it to Midas and have a 4-wheel alignment done. The old struts on the back were the same as the front, even worse. And the strut mounts were cracked, so it's good I replaced them as well. Now when pressing down on the car, it's a lot harder to press down. I'm going to go for a test drive a little later today when it cools off a little (it's about 90 something out right now). My Geo doesn't have air conditioning.
