My car has sat idle for about two years.

I get a single click and thats it.

Re: 98 Cavilier won't start

Another possibility would be the starter (or the starter solenoid - which I think also means replacing the starter).

I am going throught some similar issues on my car and I think I am going to try replacing the starter because I think it has a bad solenoid.

Standard advice on starter issue is to try tapping the starter and/or solenoid and then see if car starts. I got a start one time after doing that on mine, I'm not sure but I think what got mine working that one time was wiggling the woven wire that runs between the starter and the solenoid.

The starter on mine is down low behind the radiator near the center of the car.
