99 Rodeo (Frontera) ABS braking issues

Hi. I've never been confident my ABS works as well as it should. Recently I have had two occassions where I have felt I would have stopped quicker without it. The other day just turning around in the street slowly i bounced over a gutter onto the footpath and jammed on the brakes, however the ABS went into it's grumbly marble effect and the car rolled on a good 8 feet before just stopping in front of a fence, when it should have easily stopped with a chirp in at least 2 feet. It seems to roll on until momentum stops it.

I have read on some forums that there was an Isuzu recall on 98-99 models where the ABS algorithims needed upgrading to the 2000 plus setting as something similar occured under "certain braking conditions". Does this sound like the issue?

If it is, I'm at a loss, as in Australia this issue is not recognised by the dealer. This surprises me as the Rodeo was manufactured in the US and should have the same issues. Or is it something else I'm overlooking?

Pull the fuse, to turn the ABS off.

New shocks will help too.

Isuzu GM Australia will do as little as humanly possible. What about the fuel level sender problem. 'What problem' says Isuzu GM?

The ABS on my 99 Frontera is lethal on gravel. Pull the fuse.
