Weird problem, need some expert advise
95 tsi,
I know there are a lot of threads on idle problems, but please read on I believe my problem is unique. Car runs funny on cold start, then is ok after its warmed up. yes maf is plugged in, o2 is working fine, new plugs and wires, blah blah blah, please don't assume I have not checked any of this stuff. Pulled wires while running and cylinders 3 and 4 are the ones not working. I checked and the plugs on these cylinders, and they are firing right before there piston is a TDC(at the correct time). The injectors are also working fine. Here is the weird part, -Once warmed car runs fine???? -No engine codes???? -while running funny, at 3,300 plus it will start firing on all cylinders Please help, if you need any more info I will let you know. Thanks. |

Re: Weird problem, need some expert advise
Open to any suggestions, will try anything, even if it sounds stupid.
Its probably something simple I am overlooking. |

Re: Weird problem, need some expert advise
Eh a shot in the dark but I had a similar issue with my 1993 MX-3 before I sold it. Ended up being the internal coil in the distributor was frying out on me but once warmed up it expanded the internal parts and made fine connections or some crap. Anywho like I said a shot in the dark good luck.

Re: Weird problem, need some expert advise
simple fix, replace the light for the check engine light
two issues that can subconsiously cause this... too thick of an oil, known to cause a hard start or rough idle, expecially in the colder months if you are using platinum plugs, they have been known to cause misfires or weak firing in these cars, it would actually be best to be using the ngk plugs as specified in the manual

Re: Weird problem, need some expert advise
I would agree with the poster above me. IF you don't have NGK plugs in there than you need to get some in there.
Any other plugs run like shit on our cars.
