security problem.. wont let it start

96 bonneville.. the security light will come on when turn the ket over.. it wont let the car start.. what could be wrong.. stays on for about 5 minutes then goes off, and then car will start

Usually this is an indication that the pellet resistor in the key needs cleaning. You can clean it with a Q-tip and isobutyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), or just use a pencil eraser. Do you have a spare key?

yes, i read about that in the owners manual right after i potsed this thread.. It also said that it could be the ignition.. Thanks for the info.. I was wondering what i could use to clean it with.
