Question 2000 sunfire won,t start

could use some help......car will not turn over, i checked clutch switch..o.k.
i push started car.....it runs.but when you turn the ignition off it will not start.
every thing seems to power up but it will not start...jumped starter at poles and the car started.something is holding it out but i;m out of ideas......anyone help

sounds like your battery is taking a shit, one of those slow painful ones, it could also very well be bad/corroded cables, or a bad battery cable connection (who knows where) all VERY possible,
but i'd start with the battery

after re-reading that, ive decided i'd ask, when you jumped the starter from the poles, did you jump it with the battery currently in the car or another source?? if it was the battery in the car i supposed you can nevermind my bad battery thought
