1993 Dodge Dynasty Intermittent Starting Issue

The transmission was recently replaced and now I have an intermittent starting issue.

It starts fine if I move the select lever around near the Park or Neutral position.

Could I have a bad or mis-adjusted neutral Safety Switch?

If so, could that be a result of the transmission being replaced?

I read in another thread that you can jump this switch, where id it located?

Thanks

Re: 1993 Dodge Dynasty Intermittent Starting Issue

I dont have a Dynasty, so I am guessing. While it could be a bad neutral/safety switch, it could also be a shifter cable that was not properly seated in whatever clamps it to the transmission, or a shifter cable that has a bad connection to the bottom of the shifter. The place where that cable clamps to the tranny would have needed to be undone when it was taken out. If it didnt get put back correctly, the shifter could be showing 'park' when the tranny was thinking 'neutral'. It could also be a bad connector on the neutral safety switch.
You can probably see what the neutral safety switch looks like, by going to www.rockauto.com, typing in your car's make, year, model, and engine size - and typing "neutral" in the search 'window'. Then follow the green links.
On the car you can expect it to be hidden underneath the battery or the air filter, etc.
