2M4 to V6?

Can you just swap a 3800 into a 1984 2m4, or does some axel work, etc. need to be done?

Yes, along with wiring, motor mounts, computer, transmission, transmission mounts, suspension, brakes (you do want to stop?) the 84 isn't the best Fiero for engine swaps, but it can be done. As long as you have the skills or a deep pocket.
