The day is finally arriving!

For those that know me, you know how big of a procrastinator I am.

For those that don't, let me paint the picture real fast: I race at a dirt track, the previous Saturday I was involved in an accident which broke the upper bar on the left rear suspension, in turn bending the strut as well, and I also ended up with a hole in my radiator and the water pump was going out. Instead of spending the week between races to fix all this, I wait until Saturday to do it all. Ended up turning into replacing the suspension parts, plugging the hole in the radiator, replacing the water pump, replacing the crank pulley I accidently cracked, digging out melted plug wires, digging out the grommet on a new plug so I can go ahead and change the plugs too, replacing plugs and wires, changing the oil, replacing my visor on my helmet that also broke the previous week, and finally adding a quart of oil in the transmission because it was too late to replace a driveaxle seal. And after all that...the car was running wonderful, then I quickly found out something I forgot...Gas! Car was running out in the turns.

Anyways, that should show my procrastination, back to my point of this topic. My white hatch that some of you know, has been sitting for 4 yrs being neglected. It is now no longer being neglected and is really close to being back on the street. It now has a B18A1 sitting in it, DA Brake booster, Master cylinder and rear calipers on it(still gotta get all the air back out of it). All I have left to do is finish the MPFI wiring on it and finish up relocating the battery. I still have to put the dash back in from me replacing the Heater core and removing the A/C Evaporator(which is heavier than I expected) and put the headlights back in. There is still a lot I wanna do to it, but for now I HAVE to get it back on the road for my job(moving up to management and I have to have a car)

Oh yea, it is also no longer sporting steelies, but I forgot what model civic these wheels came off of. If I ever find my digital camera again, I will get some pictures of everything.

And last thing: I some how accidently turned my shifter linkage when I was welding it back together. I was pretty sure I had my marks lined back up good, but was apparently wrong. Its really not bad at all though, it just leaned the shifter towards the driver, and so far it seems like I'm really gonna like it

Re: The day is finally arriving!

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!! I think I might have 2 of the sensors backwards from where I redid the engine harness 4 yrs ago, gonna try swapping them and see if it smooths out. Sounds a little rough, but mean right now. I also have an exhaust leak that I need to fix, but I knew I would have it because I couldn't get in there and fill the gap when I made the downpipe for the exhaust.

There are still a bunch of little things I need to do to it, like get a new heater core in it. Right now that is bypassed until winter comes around. Anyone know if there is an air duct to bypass the evaporator box? I also need to go get some hood pins for it and put the headlights back in it and end up getting some new bumper lenses. I don't think I'm gonna put the header panel back in, which will leave a gap, but mine is bent up and all the ones in the local yards are bent as well.

Now I have to wait around for all the wasps to settle down, they were a little pissed off.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

How much would you want for it? I took my A/C out and I'm now using the hole for the hoses for my MPFI wires and battery wire.

Been meaning to ask. On the LS tranny, the speed sensor has hoses running in and out of it, do you just loop the hoses together, or can you swap it out for another speed sensor?

Hood pins are being a pain right now...they are alot easier to do on a skinned hood. Going with them just because my latch is getting sticky and I don't know where the piece to hold the plastic around the cable is. So they do have a purpose.

And don't laugh at my shifter knob when I get pics up. I drilled an 8 ball out and using it for the time being. I would rather have a shift knob that screws on than the crap you pic up at local parts stores, and right now I can't wait for shipping to get one on there because I don't have one. Its actually rather comfortable too, and kind of balances the shifter out, its really easy to go through the gears now.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

OMFG DUDE~! When I bought my hatch it had a damn 8ball screwed onto the shifter!

On the LS tranny you can either fill it with oil/grease and loop it, or do what I did and take it apart..remove the larger ring part of the pump (so it doesn't seize like mine did) and put it back together with grease in it. I imagine you can just swap it out as well..

I dunno what it will take to ship the piece but Ill take 10 bucks+shipping for it.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

Well once I get everything together that I need, Ill get that part off of you, right now I just gotta get it on the street again. Gonna have to go back later and replace the heater core anyways.

I don't plan to keep the 8 ball for long, but for now it will work. Like I said, better than the crap you get locally around here, because thats what was on it. I couldn't ever keep the thing tight, was always wanting to spin around on me.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

I made my shift knob :P

My friend got into lathing knobs for his mazda friends and he had a spare chunk of aluminum that I found. He thought it would be way too small to make anything out of, but I like it very much. Its about the size and shape of a type-r knob (we only had one radius bit) and I like the feel very much, after being polished and clear powder coated its perfect! Only problem is when it sits in the sun all day and burns your hand for 15 mins.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

Hahaha...well I made this one too :P. We had a spare set of pool balls here, I would have used a different one, but I know if we ever need to use that set, we can go buy another 8 ball.

Got a vid of the car running not the best quality, and that is with the exhaust bolted up...gotta fix that leak

Re: The day is finally arriving!

hahaha....I forgot I had my Sport Compact Car in the shed with the MPFI swap in it...it showed which plugs were what. Hardest part was getting the pins out, but I found a small screwdriver that worked perfect for it. Then my soldering gun took a dump on me last night...tip was loose. Was too tired last night to fix it.

Re: The day is finally arriving!

Hey,I gotta make up for lack of activity on here now.

I finally decided to check the ECU and I'm getting 14 for the EACV. This is one of the plugs I was worried about before. It takes the same plug as the IAT sensor, so I wasn't sure which one was supposed to go where when I redid the harness so long ago. I tried switching them around, even while its running there is no change in idle when both are unplugged. I think I might have the wires off at the connector if it uses the one on the left side strut tower.

Still haven't drove it down the road yet to see how it does there. I now mainly have the gauge cluster I need to rewire back to the 91 and put the dash back in. Then just get some bumper and corner lights and get those wires straight.

Here are some pics of it....still need to take it to the car wash and clean it up.

Harness isn't bolted in yet, still gotta make the spots for it. I had to replace a coolant hose running from the upper radiator hose housing to the intake, and still got a smaller leak somewhere under the manifold. Got the exhaust leak fixed and found out why so much of it was going out of it....the cat is stopped up, so to the parts store tomorrow to pick up a cherry bomb to replace it...or just drop it and punch it out for now. Either way, some resonators are going on it eventually because its too damn loud. Right now it feels like I'm trying to haul something with it, but I can still chirp 2nd gear(when I hit it instead of 4th) lol
