God hates me or atleast my car

So when i was driving today my transmission started acting up. i have the a4 set up on my 96 ws6 and it wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. when it tried it just reved up to almost redline then second would catch for a second until it tried to shift again. needless to say i was going 45 mph down the street and it was blarring loud (loudmouth). i got some looks. I thought she was done but after talking to my friend he thinks that it is just slipping and a change of transmission fluid would fix it. What do ya'll think? If its done i definetly want to put a t56 in it, how hard is that. basically could i do it (medium experience and bright mechanically) or just leave it to a professional?
thanks
blake

Re: God hates me or atleast my car

you could prolly swap in a t56, but itd deff help if you had someone who had done it before.. you also need lots of lines , clutch pedal, etc etc + a drill to poke hole sthrough the firewall &maybe a new ECU

i have no idea on the trans tho..i hate auto >_<

Re: God hates me or atleast my car

T56 would be the optimum choice but as far as the slipping tranny, that could be true....it may need fresh tranny fluid, or it may e jacked up...so u should check it and see how your tranny fluid looks and smells..or see if u even have any or enough in there. always start with the simple things and work your way back to the hardest thing that it could be...(unless u know for sure its the worse of the worse). ive had that problem, but my car is a auto, and it ended up needing a rebuild, so i just ended up with a new tranny built for racing..so i was like F it lol..hope your problem is something simple.

Re: God hates me or atleast my car

I'm having it checked today or tomorrow by a transmission shop. I wouldn't think the tranny fluid is bad since it was changed like two years ago but who knows. what really sucks is i just got it back from brakes and opti spark and wires. it was running the best i've ever felt it then )!(#* !)()#* *@*) my tranny! I want it to be something small but then again i would kill to have a six speed in my baby. whats the cost of an auto rebuild?
