Problem with lights behind AC control...Please help me fix...
Basically, the lights behind the AC control are burned out or something. The RED heat up, ECON, and AUTO button lights are not working. I have a pic at the bottom. Is this a fuse issue or what? How do I fix it? I tried looking on the web for a solution but couldn't find one, probably because of my noobness...
If someone could help or point me to an exact explanation on the net I would appreciate it! TIA for your help!

Did they just all of a sudden go out, did you install something new? Did you have anything done to the car?
![]() cant tell if its a fuse, bulbs, or wiring without knowing that stuff. hit me back |

I have the same problem on mine too. If you find a fix, post it here or the org.

Thanks for the reply.
No, I haven't done or installed anything. Ever. So I figured something, whether it be a bulb or fuse, is burned out. Any ideas? |

I have the exact same problem. Basically a few lights went out and finally all the backlights for the the buttons are now dead. I didn't make any sort of modifications to the car, nor did I find any blown fuses. Does anyone know of a fix or how to detach the front panels and get to the bulbs in back?

i can get behind the panels but i dont know if that would help. if all the bulbs went out at the same time, then i dont think they blew.
anyway all you have to do is take the cover for the shifter off. then on the left side of the ash tray there should be a screw. after that if there are any "clip in" switches, gentily pop those out and pull on the panel. i probably forgot a step though. check on maximadriver.com and look under the how to section. |

another question... are your tail lights out? or corner lights? because at least on the 94, they're all linked to the tail light fuse

This is also a common problem in the G20s, which have a different HVAC unit. Apparently, the connections on the bulbs are very thin and have a tendency to get dirty and/or slip out of place so they're no longer making contact. It is easy enough to fix once you get the unit out of the dash (that's the hard part, you have to disassemble the whole car, practically). I think it may be a similar problem on the Maximas, since they're all Nissan products, and are amongst the few still manufactured in Japan. Personally I haven't fixed it on my G, as I know where the buttons are anyway and don't need the lights that badly.
