Z28 Performance Upgrades?
I own a 1993 Z28 with the LT1 350, and I'm looking for a few ways to boost performance without sacrificing my arms or legs. I already bought a K&N air filter which seemed to help out more than the stock. Anything else I could try? Thanks

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
There are a couple makers of a free flowing intake duct, supposed to be worth a few ponies.

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
ported throttle body, new exhaust, a good tune, and if u have 800 bucks get a n2o kit with a small shot...but i will also need how ever much it would cost to put it on as well....thats on the higher end of things u can do but everything else shouldnt break u

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
Instead of just the filter, go with some sort of cold air intake, K&N, SLP, and Moroso are the popular ones. Longtube headers, a catback, ported TB, and some gears would be a couple steps in the right direction. Nothing wrong with some free mods as well.

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
you can look at the mods in my sig to get an idea of all the smaller mods to do

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
The throttle body bypass will net you a wopping zero HP increase.

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
But if you put a z28 sticker on it you will get a whole 10 hp gain. JK. I did the bypass on my 98z28. Was real easy, you can get the stuff at your local autoparts store. Just google it and you can find out how to do it.

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
First mod to do - exhaust. headers back. it preps for future mods, gives great value in performance increase and presence of the car due to the much improoved sound. it avoids having a cork in the system when you do intake or programming mods.
For an LT1 baised engine, you can also look at the LT4 kit. its an intake, heads, and cam that are good for around 425hp i believe. and if memory serves the set is like 2000-2500 bucks. been a while since i looked that up, so i could be off. im sure someone on here will call me out on it if im wrong. after that, you start looking at the major mods, engine mods, tranny mods, rear end, suspension, power adders, computer reprograming..... all that jazz.

Re: Z28 Performance Upgrades?
Thanks for the advice, I'll be taking out my transmission soon, so i might as well do the whole exhaust now instead of later. Rebuilding the tranny might set me back a few bucks to put into other mods. Thanks again
