Hey everybody im new to AF and id just like to say hi to everyone...i dont really know too terribly much about working on cars but i love them. i just got a 1967 thunderbird as my first car and wanted to know if anybody had any ideas about what i should do to it...mind you im on a highschoolers budget...with a dad that doesnt want me to have a muscle car heh. any ideas or advice is appreciated...thanks



forgot to mention its got a 5.7L 390 V8. =]

Welcome to the forum. First things to do are a complete tune up including points, condenser, plugs, filters, possibly distributor cap, rotor and plug wires. A compression test is also a good idea. Change all the fluids and filters (tranny and engine including antifreeze), check the lube level in the rearend and if it has a drain plug in the bottom, I would drain and refill it. Before changing the antifreeze, check the condition of all hoses and if they feel spongy, replace them. If it was my car I would replace them no matter what since you don't know when they were changed before. Check the condition of the brakes and have a front end alignment done so the front end components will be checked. If you still have more money to spend, let me know and I will give you more ideas on how to spend it! Good luck and enjoy the car. Keep it in decent shape and you should be able to get what you paid for it when you sell it later.
