To introduce myself.............

..........Hello all. I am new to the Modeling Forum. I am a disabled Vietnam era vet who is looking for something to do, as I am pretty much homebound, and I'm about to go nuts.

I used to build "street rods" back in the early '60's before going in the military. I'm looking to perhaps re-start that hobby, although my eyes ( and hands ) aren't as cooperative as they once were.

Hoping this Forum will provide me with "how-to's", "tricks", and, most important, some social contact & someone willing to act as a "mentor".

Re: To introduce myself.............

Welcome to the hobby!

Pick yourself up some kits, paints and a digital camera and take us through what you'd like to learn! Just remember, some of the guys on here are fine artists well practiced in what they do... in other words, don't be discouraged when you don't get a result like they do, but rather try to learn from them and also learn something from each model you build.

Hope you find enjoyment in it!

Welcome!

Most important is just "to do". All tutorials and "how to" may improove skills, but start to stick finger and smell glue and show out it's a enthusiast and friends group, not a contest

I like your sig. and feel you open on the matter, hopefully you'll say something about, next, in your threads.

ciao

Hehe, I constantly go nuts when I see the awsome work here...this is a truley inspiring site with a heck lot of very helpful people.

Like the others said, just stick your finger in and smell the jolly smell of glue. Just start showing some work and you will find a lot of mentors here!

Welcome! What kind of cars do you like? Are you still into street rods? We need more "muscle" on here!

Re: To introduce myself.............

I LOVE "jalopies" and/or early street rods (hot rod T's all the way up the early 60's cars). What some refer to as "ratrods" (incorrect IMHO), are my favorite. When we were building them back in the late fifties, early sixties, we called 'em "jalopies". (or worse when they would'nt run

In referance to my "signature", I am a disabled Vietnam veteran. Beyond that, I don't care to discuss my political/military views here as they are 1) innapproprite for this forum & 2) My mom always told me "never discuss politics or religion unless you want to tic people off". I do not wish to offend anyone whose views may not agree with my own.
