Auto Tranny Woes!!!

Bummer! My '96 Tracker automatic tranny is slow to up-shift when starting out cold. Works just fine after warming up. Changed fluid and it seemed to help a bit, although I'm not positive. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I checked the factory service manual and it said for HEAVY JERKING WHEN TAKING OFF: 1. Low Oil Pressure 2. Bad Modulator Valve 3. Stuck Regulator Valve 4. Valve Body Check Ball Dropped Out. Your exact symptom wasn't mentioned, but it sounds like the auto clutch bands are bad. That will require going into the tranny. Hope this info helps.

NEW DEVELOPMENT! I've discovered that when it doesn't want to change, I can let up on the gas and it changes. It does it much worse on hard ecceleration.

Re: Auto Tranny Woes!!!

my 91 was doing this, lived with it for about 3 years. until it started to take much longer to shift from 1st to 2nd. i finally put in some stuff called sea foam that i got at schucks. after about 3 days the tranny started shifting normally.
