Exclamation please help! My honda won't start

I have a 2 door, 1991 honda accord ex. The other day I was going down the interstate and all the power died out. as I drifted to the side of the road it stalled out and all we smelt was gas... It won't turn on now but it sounds like it wants to, it just doesn't catch. the belts all turn it just doesn't turn over. we even tried putting in a half tank of gas. several people have told me it was the fuel pump, some have said it was the distributor, and some have said it was a cracked head.. please help me figure it out. I have a used honda accord for a parts car, it's just a matter of figuring out what is wrong and fixing it. as a single mom in college i need it fixed ASAP

perform the basics fuel spark air. check fuel line with fuel pressure gauge. check distributor for spark. check and make sure there is nothing restricting airflow aka intake.. if fuel press gauge says 0 then u might have prob with fuel pump. i think it should say anywhere from 20-30 psi im not sure every car is different. and do the same with distributor check for spark and let us know whats up

Re: please help! My honda won't start

if there is no spark then first u want to test ur coil for spark if coil has spark then u have to take ur distributor off and take it down to autozone if u have any where u live and they can test the icm ignition control module if the module is bad then its better to replace whole distributor too much hassle to rebuild distributor plus u get lifetime warranty. to test the coil you have to pull the lead wire that goes from coil to distributor and hold it a quarter of an inch away from the electrode on the distributor side and have someone turn the ignition in 5 second intervals if coil and icm are good then the crankshaft position sensor is at suspect unfortunately the only way i know how to test cps is take old one off measure resistance and compare it to a new cps if they are the same resistance then dont bother installing new one because electrical parts are non refundable unless they are defect so after u do all that let me know what u got.....and also describe the symptoms like it starts and then turns off.. explain details for info does help well good luck... oh yeah worst case scenario is that ur timing belt could have went out when was the last time u had timing belt changed and how many miles does the car have
