We need more details, what car, year, model, tranny, mods? You need to discribe the problem more, there are so many things that could cause problems like that. Be more specific, when does the problem occur? How long does it act up like this? What felt like it was locking up? The tranny, or motor?

This also needed to be in the problem section.

slipping out of gear? i would start by looking at the tranny, clutch, flywheel, check battery, connections, grounds, ect.... that may sound really stupid, but i have seen a disconnected ground cause some serious problems, and something as simple as one simple connection failure can mess up a lot of stuff..... sensors could also be something to look into, more info would be great tho.....

Your car is going to explode the next time you start it. Best to sell it to someone else quick!

On a real note, it could be anything. Your post and title are about as descriptive as a first graders assignment on how much he likes dogs.

Sounds like a tranny to me. Eh....or electrical. But first guess would be tranny.
