Red face I saw this on the Road and Was Amazed

I recently ran into what several people refer to as the "Rocket."

I'm not sure if you all know of Shaman, but his "rocket" is known all over the various forums dealing with streets and what not.

I thought I'd give you all a glimpse into the world of Shaman by offering this outstanding friggin link !!

Question

The streets are all about the image, and that Freakazoid Shaman is pulling everyone's chain when he says he is a "racing" instructor...

From what I've seen here, there just is no hope of Shaman ever getting any credibility in the world of racing whatsoever.

He actually thinks that his "Mosport" is racing. All he does is set up a track in his backyard, and has his buddies show up w/ cars. And then they individually make a 3 lap run around this hill-billy track. After it's all said and done, the fastest time ends up winning.

Now, in my opinion, that just isnt racing! Racing is a heads up, wheel to wheel competition involving a simultaneous run. Anyone agree or disagree?

I disagree with your definition of racing. For proof, I turn to the FIA's traveling circus of over-powered, under-weight, compacts known as the World Rally Championship. The basics of rallying. You are here. You have to be there. Here is the road that will get you from here to there. Get there from here in as little time as possible.

Now, throw in the fact that said road is barely one lane wide, has about 7000 corners per mile, is gravel, and is on the side of a cliff where on one side you have rock and on the other side you have a million foot drop into a bunch of trees, and you have some pretty wild racing.

Besides, who can resist the charm of an AWD 400+hp Hyundai Accent? And that's the low end of the field!

i agree... racing doesn't have to be side by side.

auto x is a great example. or timed one lap events... like some scca stuff...

it's just as much of a race if you are racing the clock for top time
