Parts compatibility with Chevrolet Lumina

I have a '92 Pontiac Trans Sport SE with the 3.1 engine and my AC compressor has just gone south.

Now a friend of mine had a Chevrolet Lumina with a 3.8 motor in near perfect state (body is unsalvageable after a horrific crash) and I wonder if it's AC compressor is compatible with mine so I can buy it from him.

Does anybody know if this GM 3.1 AC compressor and 3.8 compressor are compatible and can be intercharged?

You need to eyeball them, also, you can check autozone.com, repair guides.

Just go to any on-line parts catalog and look up each onert. If they're the same, you're in business

I've checked them on rockauto.com and they look the same but the part # are different.

I wonder if they can be intercharged..

No. Definitely.
2,4L-3.1L-3.8L AC compressor ar'nt compatible.
I just bought the FOUR SEASONS Part # 58974 (w/V5 Compressor; w/ Clutch; Compressor equipped w/ R12 control valve; w/ Rear AC) for $255.79 on Rockauto, refill it with R413a gaz (which replace R12).
