Re: PaulD i need help

Heres a tutorial my friend did on another site im on, this is for sub enclosures but you can use the same concept for a door panel.

http://www.mys10.com/showthread.php?t=3770

I got some of the q-logic universal kick pod things and mounted them on my door panel and im going to fiberglass them to it.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: PaulD i need help

Usually you have to rivet it to make sure it wont come off, thats what bondo is for.

Personally ive done it once and it took forever, it was for a CRX with one 12" he wanted it to look like it was part of the trunk. He got tired of sanding and just covered it with carpet. Im going to start on my door panels very shortly, i just got a nice size piece of "leather" for $6 on ebay its like 10 sq ft. I learned some interior work back in high school, and i can do body work with fiberglass so im going to take my knowledge there and combine them to see what can do.

Fiberglass takes awhile to do but the results are awesome. Just take your time, make sure everything is done right, be as accurate as possible and plan it all out. It takes alot of trial and error to get good at it.

Re: PaulD i need help

Just look at the material cost for my friends sub box, not as much but alot of the stuff can be found at walmart. As for custom stuff they charge by the hour unless you get an agreed upon price, but its not cheap.

Re: PaulD i need help

if you have to ask, you don't wanna know. I knew it's what I wanted, so it was worth it - it's been in my car for more than 3 years now. The Accord obviously doesn't have the low end like 12's or 15's, but the 8's match with mid/tweets well with most types of music at reasonable levels
