Vehicle Speed Sensor
Hi all. 1992 Olds 88. 3.8 ltr. Starts off in 2nd gear and the cruise works sporadically. I think it might be the V.S.S. Has anyone heard of this and if so where is the V.S.S on this particular model. Thank You

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor
Does the speedo work, if so it is not the VSS.

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor
Correct, the pcm drives it based on VSS input so that is not the problem, the trans should be scanned with a full function trans scanner for solenoid functions and trans codes.

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor
A regular scanner will not pick up trans functions, a highline scanner, professional model, or a trans shop would have this capability.
