1997 Power Window Question

Hi All,

The passenger driver's side window all of a sudden will not go down (certainly better than not going up, but I digress). At any rate, is there a quicky check I can do to see what this is about? Or do I have to go in another more cumbersome direction with volt meters etc that I do not have?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Re: 1997 Power Window Question

Taurus has had numerous problems with power window motors, specifically the rear windows. I believe they get wet repeatedly and corrode out,, turn your inside dome light on, hit the window switch, see if the dome light dims down.. easy check without a voltmeter... I've never replaced a front motor, but plenty of rear motors..

Re: 1997 Power Window Question

My '97 GL Wagon driver's door motor failed in the down position recently. I pulled it out, shook it a bit, dropped it, and it's been working ever since (3 months now). No problems with the other motors yet (147k).
