'96 tahoe no start, which code reader to buy?

Ran fine, now nada the next day.
What's a decent code reader to buy to diagnose with??

i have the same truck and the same thing happened first check your battery if battery is ok then its your fuel pump need a new one let me know if this helps leo

Nope I don't think it's the battery, less than a year old & all the connections are tight. Cranks like a madman, but no start.

I don't want to start throwin' 50's at this so I'd like to scan for codes.
