02 GCL Transmission shifting problems
My daughter, who is away at college, has just informed me that her 02 grand cherokee (Inline 6 with AT, 2WD) is having transmission problems. She states that it will not shift from 1st to 2nd gear properly. The engine reves up to about 4,000 rpm before shifting. Letting off the gas helps but the problem is still there. She will be home this weekend and I would like to fix the problem while she is home. I am looking for any suggestions so I might get the problem resolved while she is home. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 02 GCL Transmission shifting problems
I got my daughter to go to auto zone and they read the code. It had a P1757 and a P1762 code. They said this has something to due with the Governor pressure sensor offset volts too low or high (P1762) and Gov Press not equal to target @15-20psi (P1757). Can any body help me with the fix?

this is probably too late, I dont see the date of post, but I just went through this same thing with my 01 jeep. they also said it was the governor and that in order for the new governor (about 300 bucks) to not go under pressure again, I would just have to replace my entire transmission (1400 bucks) which was also, apparently, totally shot. that was not fun. not at all. |

Re: 02 GCL Transmission shifting problems
To both guys, I thought there was a 100K mile warranty on your model years and tranny?? What's your respective mileage on the vehicles? Hope your problems are not as expensive as mentioned.
Good luck. |
