Very Odd F150
2000 F150 5.4 - Went to start and sounded like a tooth was missing from the fly wheel. 2nd attemp dash went nuts! Lots of clicking in dash, starter solenoid clapping and speedo/tach moving. Charged over night and put ingnition on, speedo and tach pegged then went back to zero. Checked computer, no codes. Went to start and started right up. Has started 4 times through out the day so far with no problems. Battery checked out ok. Any help would be appreciated as I deem the truck unreliable at this point. Thanks!

Re: Very Odd F150
Happened again this morning. Instead of trusting the battery tester I jumped it. Worked fine. I installed a new battery and we'll see. Just never had a battery die like that before.

Re: Very Odd F150
You could also had a bad battery connection and by changing the battery you fixed the connection.

Re: Very Odd F150
The bendix on the starter might have stuck. A broken tooth will cause an occasional problem. You can pull the starter and look to find this. Roll the engine by hand.
