Thumbs up '95 TC, Maintenance Question

Hello first off.

Ok I just picked up a '95 Town Car with 132K, body all good except one spot on the drivers side in front of the wheel (rust) that I will get on quick. She is white w/ a blue top. Ok here is the part you will like, $100, yes that's right I didn't forget a zero.

Because I don't know the history of the car I am planing on doing all the fluids, pulling the wheels ect. ect. It has the 4.6 SOHC motor. What should I be on the lookout for? As far as I know everything works. I didn't get a chance to check it out that well because it got towed while I was at work... Why you ask? Because it was leaking gas very bad and the neighbors thought it was hazard. So I just told the place it got towed to that they can go ahead and put a new tank on it (I got no way to get it up high enough anyway.)

What oil does these engines like?

What plugs do these engines like?

I have read some and seen there is a problem with the intake manifold (is this the same thing that happened to these engines in mustangs? (alt. or some accessory bolted to it, if I remember correctly? Does this apply to my engine? What is the fix? (A updated manifold?)
I got the factory workshop manual from another post on here, Thanks!! To whoever put that up.

Also, anymore info you can spare on this year would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for looking.

Re: '95 TC, Maintenance Question

First of all you need to get some new neighbors. Or let them know that bad behavior will be punished. If that happed to me all hell would break loose. You should have thier car towed. I would get even

Good deal on the $100 purchase. I usually pay more for the junkers I buy. Sounds like you are on the right track. Change all the fuilds, tune up, belt, hoses, brakes, tires etc. You got to be able to do some of these things your self, or it will nickle and dime you to death. A fuel leak could be a lot more things than just a tank, hopefully you won't get ripped off on that repair.

Re: '95 TC, Maintenance Question

Hi Mike, I am very mechanically inclined, I can do everything myself. The neighbors.... it is a on going thing from the pets to the leaves to grass clippings you name it has caused a issue (Everyone thinks they are better than they are, they LOVE me on the 4th of July .) I went to were it got towed and it was still on the flatbed, the seam is split (looks like someone 'tapped' something), me no rack, they are charging me $220. I have spent worse money on less.
Oh yea, it has 4 brand new michelins on it.

Thanks, Jack

Re: '95 TC, Maintenance Question

Hi Jack

Well I can relate to those bad neighbors, had the same problen when I lived in metro Detroit. I eventually ran both trouble makers out and then it was time to move. We are out in the country now with no restrictions, lots of space to do what I want.

Good deal, the tires are worth the 100 bucks alone. If you run across any more 100 Lincolns let me know.

Re: '95 TC, Maintenance Question

I paid more for a replacement radiator.

Anything that runs is worth 500 at least.

Mine was leaking gas from the gas filter. Rusted out from being under the
car. i would smell it but never saw any gas because it was evaporating.

i was really pleased when I picked my 94 up for a grand.

The guy that owned it from new was a bachelor. Back seat didnt look like it ever saw an ass before me. He was an auto body man so thats good too

Most say ya get what ya pay for. I certainly got more or like too think so.

Hope you did too. Good luck
