Painting Lancer Evo VII WRC

I am working on the New Tamiya Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII WRC (TAM24257) and unsure which colour to paint the body, the instruction say Tamiya Color Spray: Bright Red (TS49) but having done a few test samples on plastic card it looks far too bright with a white primer and too dark with a grey primer, last Evo (VI) was airbrushed using X7 (red) which worked very well, but I find spraying a whole car with a airbrush is a bit hard to get a good wet finish.

Any comments and ideas welcome

Steve
P.S. where are the Malboro Decals (It looks crap without them)
Yes I know in M.C. it did not run with them

damn...
I have this kit too....
the whole kit was sprayed with primer a few days ago and when i wanted to start on it, it appears that my air brush needle was bent!
All thanks to my friend...
TO get a wet finish, you gotta add more thinner...

I think TS-49 is an accurate match. Plus, if any of the red on the body is included as decals, it will not match any other red except TS-49.

I did an Evo VI in TS-49, and had no complaints with the color.

Since I'm not a fan of Spray cans in general I used Testors Guardian Red for my EVO-6 with Airbrush.
