98 1 ton code p0175

my truck has a 454 in it ,the code p0175 keeps coming on .it says it might be the maf senser ,is there a way to check them before i pay all that money,or can it be something else ,the lite does go off for awhile ,then it comes back on .

P0175=Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 2 (pass side). This DTC is set when the VCM detects an excessively rich exhaust mixture.

Really need to get a good scanner on it and check long & short term fuel trims. Also need to check fuel pressure.

Problems areas are:
1. air filter
2. intake restriction
3. MAF restriction
4. Bank 2 HO2S1 electrical
5. fuel pressure regulator
6. EVAP system
7. fuel injectors (fuel injector balance test)

As you can see there's lots of stuff to check for the DTC. Most of it requires a high end scanner and a good fuel press guage. Some of it is just visual.

As far as the MAF being mentioned I would thing it would create a problem on both banks as it's the 1st thing between the air filter and throttle body.

whats funny about this the lite comes sometime and engine seems to have a miss,then the lite will go off and it will run good again.i guess i,ll just have to pay and get it checked out .
