Intermittent electrical issues

Hey gang, how's it going?

I've got an '01 F-150 with 60M miles. It runs great, but last summer, I had to bring it into the shop to have one of the coils replaced.

Long story short... shortly after I got it back, the Odometer will intermittently go off and after driving for a while, it would turn back on. It still records the mileage (even when it's shut-off), but it's kinda weird that it goes off and on like that.

The other weird electrical phenomenon is the correlation between my tilt steering and the rear passenger side brake/blinker lights.

Whenever I reset the tilt to its resting position (all the way up), and then bring it all the way down to its lowest position, the rear passenger side brake light and blinker light will not work. To resolve it, I have to incrementally raise the tilt position to the 2nd or 3rd lowest.

Has anyone ever experienced these issues?

I've checked ALL the fuses and they're all OK.

Can anyone recommend or suggest other areas to look at?

Thanks guys.
Ace.

Re: Intermittent electrical issues

the odom. is a problem with the cluster (HEC module) most people just live with it due to the cost of a cluster.

the lights are caused by a bad connector on the multifuncitions switch - the lock tab brakes and alows the wire to pull out when the column is tilted - replacement pigtails are abailable at reasonable cost from dealer (let me know if you need part #) or from carpak. others may offer but these are the ones I've used and had good luck with.

Re: Intermittent electrical issues

Hey Rivguy,

Thanks so much for the reply post. I really appreciate it.

Yes, please, if you have the part number for the replacement pigtails (on that multifuncitions switch), I'd sure appreciate it.

Again, thank you for the post.

Ace
