Something Weird??
1988 4runner, 261 000 km, 35 " tires, stock gears, Automatic tranny . After engaging 4wd and locking hubs my truck is pretty gutless, has trouble making it up some steep hills and what not.
After about 30 minutes of wheeling or alot of going from reverse to D-2-L it seams to go into lower gears or something. The RPM are constantly higher and when i punch it i am sucked back into my seat. This seams really weird to me becuase even when it is bogged down at first the 4wd works still. If anyone has an idea i would love to hear it. thanks?

As for why it suddenly seems to have more power after 30 min, maybe it's not really in 1st gear when you have it selected (something with the tranny ECM) or it's not really in low range at first ?

Re: Something Weird??
how about a fluid change in the xfer case, i thought about a ?, if you have it in any forward gear and then put it into low range does it seem like it tries to lurch forward, almost like you have your foot on the brake and give it alittle gas(this is stopped of course/when you engage low range)
