a/c stops blowing thru vents when I accelerate

Hello everyone. I just bought a 1999 LUmina ltz with 62000 miles. The car is in excellent condition. The problem I have is that when I accelerate, the a/c stops blowing thru the vents and blows down at my feet. As soon as I let up on the gas, it returns. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this? If so, can you tell me where to find the faulty parts? Also, the daytime running lamps do not work.

If you've done any work around the battery lately, check the HVAC vacuum supply line that runs near it, behind the washer fluid bottle and then to the firewall. It is very common for this line to get inadvertently damaged/cracked, and will cause what you describe. The engine produces very low vacuum while accelerating, and a leak will be most noticeable when doing so.
