No power
Ok, so first things first, any help would be greatly appreciated. My car has sat in the driveway long enough, and I want to get it running.
The other day, I was about 5 miles from home, when I felt the car buck really bad multiple times before I got to the house. After checking around I noticed a lose connection to the MAF, coming from the MAF translator and decided that this was of course my problem. I fixed the connection and started the car, everything runs just fine now. Except when it goes. Every time I take the car out, it has absolutely NO power, and am lucky to get it up to 60mph max. on the open highway. It shows normal boost, even though the accelerator is to the floor for about a mile before I can gain any type of speed. I have checked multiple times for boost leaks, and even replaced all of the hoses involved in the turbo system. I also replaced the spark plugs and wires after all this happened, but it had no effect. Any ideas? It has been suggested to me that the timing belt may have slipped.. Thank you all for taking time to read this.

Re: No power
I haven't yet, but I was just looking for different opinions of probable causes. I have been told many different things by different people, and am not sure where to start.. I'm guessing that would be a good starting point.

Those would be the most logical starting point to the wonderful process of elimination.

Re: No power
First of all, how does the car run at idle, under heavy accelearation, and at normal crusing speeds? Does it stumble and sputter? If so, you may have jumped a tooth, otherwise it could be something else. I would do a compression test right off the bat just to get a general idea of what's goin on inside the motor.

Ok, it seems to run normal at idle within the usual RPM range with little or no surge. Under heavy acceleration well...there is no heavy acceleration. Even with the accelerator to the floor it will only slowly, and I mean SLOWLY, gain in speed. When I am finally able to run it at normal cruising speeds, it runs pretty smooth, with the exception of any power at all. There really is no stumble or sputter that i have noticed after I fixed the MAF connection. It's wierd that the rpm's will rise, but haven't the power to match it. Could it have been damaged in the 5 miles that I drove it with a bad connection to the MAF? After searching around I'm not seeing the symptoms of the timing being off, I'm starting to think that it's more engine internal, which scares me. I will do a compression test and check the timing tomorrow, just to rule out anything that is not the problem. I will be back with the results in the morning.
