01 2500 ac help

I have a 01 2500 with a 6.0 liter just got back from a hot trip into Texas. Now when you turn the ac on at an idle it will cool a little and the idle gets very low a rough. As soon as you accelerate it sounds like the fan is hitting the shroud maybe the belt skipping. It will cool at hiway speeds. Could this be just low refrigerant or does it sound like the bearings in the commpresor are going out Please help and thanks in advance

Re: 01 2500 ac help

It could be a lot of things. You have to identify where the noise is comming from. It could be belts, bearings or even a loose fan. The A/C sounds like it is low. Test it.

Re: 01 2500 ac help

Thanks for the reply
The noise was the belt skipping and the system was low. Now it is back to like new but I can not seem to find the leak, thinking about taking it in for leak detection.

If it takes a long time to loose the feron, have someone put in a die that will show where it leaks out.
