2001 Stratus Transmission Not Shifting
My 2001 Dodge Stratus developed a problem this evening and I have no idea what the problem is. I went out and drove about 15 miles going to three different stores and everything was fine. 3 hours later, I got in and took off and my car would no longer shift gears and the CEL came on. I checked the transmission fluid and it appeared to be a bit low, so I added some and then went for a test drive. The problem was still there. Has anyone experienced a problem like this or does anyone have any idea what might cause this. My car has an automatic transmission and the engine is the 4 cyl. 2.4 litre model. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 2001 Stratus Transmission Not Shifting
You've already checked the fluid level, and that is the first thing that should do. I personally have never had this problem, but have heard of it. I would look into replacing the two speed sensors on the transaxle. They're located on the driver side of the vehicle, forward side of the transaxle. The input speed sensor is located to the left of the manual shift lever, and the output speed sensor is located to the right of the manual shift lever. I don't know if they can be tested, but I don't think they're that expensive to replace.

Re: 2001 Stratus Transmission Not Shifting
Thanks! The car is currently in the shop and I'll definitely have the mechanic check those two sensors.
