Fuel Rail Valve??

I'm attempting to change my fuel filter for the first time in my '03 Grand Am 4 cyl and need to release the fuel pressure. Can anybody help me find the location of the valve? Thanks in advance!!

I read up in a haynes manual that taking off the gas cap helps release pressure for the most part....

Post some more info of how it goes, and your setup...

Re: Fuel Rail Valve??

theres another way for that. just go to the under-hood fusebox and take out the fuel pump relay and attempt to start the car. it may start and run for a second then die out. then all the pressure is relieved. thats what i usually do.

Re: Fuel Rail Valve??

To answer your question the fuel shradder valve is on the pass side of the engines rear fuel rail.
Its right next to the alternator, might have a cap over it might not.

It can be a PITA !
For more tips on the filter you can check the recent thread in the Grand am forums.
