What to look for?

I'm thinking about buying a '92 Talon TSI AWD. A friend of mine sold it to this guy he works with a couple of years ago after putting a new head on and redoing the valve train after he got off some other guy who broke the timing belt. Its supposidly in great shape, I haven't looked at it yet, and the guy only wants $3000, which I thought was a great deal at first. All the ones I saw in the auto trader were going from $4500 to $5500, but after looking of the private party value on Kelly Blue Book web site it seems to be priced about right. Any ways I was wondering what I should be looking for. I've heard that the tranny's are week but other than that I have never heard of problems with them. So other than the obvious things that one would check on any car like brakes, engine leaks, ect. are there any Talon/Eclipse issues I should be aware of and looking for? Thanks for the help.
