decals help

hello everyone

I'm building a tamiya alfa romeo 155 ti (24137) and the guy I bought the model from didn't take care of the decals.
when I tried to use the decals they just crumbled and I can't use them.
does anybody know if there is a reproduction of this decals or maybe someone have this decals for sale.
I did scan the decals but they are mostley white and you cant print them with regular printer.

www.rainbowten.co.jp seems to have the 1993 decal (#D045) in stock. Try searching by "museum" or "romeo". BTW, it's a high-tech decal (you're supposed to remove the carrier film), so it's a bit tricky to use.

you could make a copy of whats' left and spray Testors decal bonder over the new copy and the old decals to to make use of them agina.

If you want to use the original Tamiya decals, you can order them at Rainbow Ten.
In the instruction sheet there is a code# at the end for each parts tree and the decal sheet. With this code#, Rainbow Ten can get them at tamiya.

I tried to use the Hi-tech decals on my McLaren Mp4/5B and found them impossible to work with.I couldn't get the carrier film off very well at all.They really were very tricky to apply.The printing quality was fantastic but in the end I used another set from a different manufacturer I found them so difficult to apply properly.Just a warning before you rush out and buy them.
You could print out your scanned copy onto white decal paper after adding a small red border around the white letters with a graphics program.Then you just trim up to the red border and apply as usual,although this method would be far from easy.I would only use it as a last resort.Another method would be to coat the original decals with Microscale Liquid decal Film.It will stop them crumbling when you put them in the water,could be worth a try.But if you can get a new sheet then I feel this would be the best way to go.

maybe you can give me (or anybody else that have used this kind of decals) some sujestions for using this decals.

There is no way to make them easier to use.The biggest problem I had with their use was the fact that every time I tried to peel away the clear film it also took some of the decal with it.The only way to go if it does this is to lay the decal back down and wet it again.The other problem was that the clear film (the part you remove) left a stain where it had been which could not be removed by polishing.Now this may be down to the paint I used (Tamiya TS sprays) but I don't think it was.The best advice is to leave the paint longer than you normally would to make sure it is fully dry before you apply the decals.I also found that it was best not to leave the decals for a long time after application or the carrier film was impossible to remove properly.You need to keep trying it and as soon as it is possible to remove the carrier film,remove it.Don't let it dry overnight for example or it will be impossible to get off.Hope this helps you out and good luck with the decals.
