HX vs. Alero

okay, me and this kid had an argument... i have a 99' civic HX (manual)and he is using this rental car thats a 2002 alero 3.6L, V6, and has about 170 HP. He says it will smoke my car by a long shot. i say it wont even if it does have 170 horses. those things are heavy as hell. i looked online and it says 0-60 times for a alero with 150 hp is like 10. (thats the coupe version) he has a sedan automatic alero, but with 170 HP. who would WIN??? 99' HX times are like 9.2 or seomtihng... pleaz tell me im right and hes bullshitting me.....

Here is are the stats:

Alero GLS:

0-60: 7.7
1/4 Mile: 16.1
1/4 Speed: 85

Alero GL:

0-60: 8.1
1/4 Mile: 16.3
1/4 Speed: ?

You will have him off the line then after that probably eattin.. My advice is to get a b18 swap.

Ethier way race him for some launching practice and just deal with the loss if you happen to win then KICK ASS.

Good Luck, Be safe.

you would get smoked.....those times are actually a little off.....a stock 3.4 v6 alero with a good driver could easily put down a 15.7-15.9 quarter......FYI I have full catback exhaust and a CAI, that is it....and i have beat my brother in law fairly easily on more than one occasion in his 2000 civic si (dc sports header, aem gears, aem CAI, apexi catback exhaust, and a few other misc things.....

Re: HX vs. Alero

ask your buddy one more time which engine the alero has in it. gm never produced a 3.6L... only 2.2L 4 cyl, 2.4L 4 cyl, and the 3.4L V6.
