99 S10 2.2L No Shift
I took my S10 home for the weekend about two weeks ago. I know that the transmission filter needed to be changed, I was putting it off until I had the money. It was starting to give a slower shift around 50 mph, like it didn't want to catch. While I was home, I was driving it on the highway and it wouldn't kick into overdrive, then it stopped shifting up completely. After I pulled it off the highway, found it not shifting into any drive gear at all. No reverse, no drive, no 1, 2, 3.
Should I look at just replacing the transmission, rebuilding, or (my fingers are crossed on this one, I know it's a long shot) maybe the transmission filter just needs changed? I know that last one's a long shot, but I heard from a few other people about other cars they had where they thought their transmission was shot, but all it needed was a new filter. Thanks for any help. Please direct replies to email. [email protected] Thanks again. - Mark |

Re: 99 S10 2.2L No Shift
First thing make sure it has fluid in it.
Is the fluid black or burnt? Then go for a filter change and look in the bottom of oil pan for extra stuff. If filter is good and you have fluid in it and linkage is shifting it good. It should at least go into reverse. If not it is blowed or burnt up.
