Does it have dual zone A/C?

I would look at the pressures first to determine if the refridgerant charge was sufficent, then next I would check air delivery.

Re: 2004 Tahoe

My 06 did that and the dealer had to replace the damper motor on the drivers side (dual zone controls)

My 04 is just the opposit. Air works ok (never been ice cold from day one, nor does it cool very quickly) dealer always said there were no problems. Just after I turned 36000 miles (and no warranty) the drivers ac will start to blow HOT air, not warm, very HOT. All other zones (front passenger, rear and 3rd row continue to blow cold). Turning ac off doesn't help. Only way to get cold air is to turn the car off completely and then turn back on. It has happened about 10 times since June.

Re: 2004 Tahoe

Is this a common problem that you see at your dealership? I was wondering if I could get this covered under soem type of a good will warranty since my vehicle has 40000 and is only 38 months old.

Re: 2004 Tahoe

I would insist that they replace the damper motors on both sides. I'd bet this has been a problem for you from day 1 because I think your A/C should be like mine - It will delivers Ice Cold air and cools down my Tahoe in minutes even when its 98 Deg F like today. You have probably been mixing warm with cold all this time and that is why your A/C doesn't seem to work very well.

If the compressor is running and you see sweat dripping from underneath you should be able to cool your vehicle down nicely.

Re: 2004 Tahoe

Makes alot of sense. I live in South Florida and my ac has never been ice cold. My husbands 04 Silverado (LS model) has always cooled much better. My dealer just tells me it's hot outside and it can take up to 2 minutes to cool. Never sounded right to me, I guess I will call Chevy Customer Assistance and see if they can help.

Re: 2004 Tahoe

I have '04 Tahoe that has the same problem. Do you recall how much the damper motors cost?
