Question Help me Please, intake question.

I have a little Ranger with a V8 swap, it had a 2 barrel intake on it, and we just put a Holley Street Dominator aluminum 4 barrell intake on it. Does anyone know where i can get torque specs and the order to tighten them down? I have looked over the internet, but can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help me Please, intake question.

While I'm not an expert at going toward the core of the engine, the method I have found works is to go 'round and 'round, and spiral in or out. Going to opposite diagonals and proceeding in a star works great too. Start no tighter than thumbscrewing them in, and then progressively step up the torque in several steps (at least four or five, more is better) completing the pattern each time. This seems to work great for me, whether it's a wheel, or an electrical panel (I'm an electrician).

Re: Help me Please, intake question.

ask the place you bought it from.
I would just go by the Haynes book for an OEM Intake!

What year do you have?
I have a book right here for ford mustang and ford ranger explorer.
I can give you the OEM torque specs

Re: Help me Please, intake question.

it's an 83 ranger(little one), it originally had a v6, but the person we traded it from had a 302 put in it. we had a aluminum intake we bought off ebay for my cougar, but decided to put it on here. with it being an aluminum intake, don't know if oem specs is right. and since we bought it off ebay, it is all we got, no paperwork.

Call Holley I believe they have a technical hotline. But if you can't seem to find your answer I would torque them to 15 to 20 FT-LBS. I've found that for most large engine components you start at the center and work your way out. I'd put some high temp silicone on the gaskets where the water runs through.
