97 Tahoe not starting when hot...

I currently and driving my mom's 97 Tahoe 4x4. 258k miles, with rebuilt motor and tranny, and a lot of other stuff has been replaced, including both cats and all the O2 sensors.

The problem is the truck will not start when really hot. If you are driving in stop and go traffic, then park and turn the truck off, it needs to cool down for 30-45 mins before it will start. It will crank but not catch. It will take longer to start if it is parked in the sun as opposed to in the shade, and the problem doesn't occur when driving down the interstate, only around town.

I haven't tested fuel and fire when it is acting up, as Im trying to not get it to act up before the end of this week, but was wondering if anyone else had encountered a similar problem.

Oh, and normally the SES light is one because of the aftermarket cats, but after an episode of not starting the SES light turns off and the codes are cleared.

Not to fill up your thread, but I am looking for the same answer. I have had the same problem with my 96 Tahoe 5.7L Vortec.

Could be bad gas and is vaporizing at high temp. Try a tank full of Top Tier Gas. Could also be a leaking pressure regulator or injectors. Check with a fuel pressure guage.
