Question ABS Breaks Cycle After Take Off

Hello Fellow Forumer's...

I've got a 99 Venture that the ABS breaks will cycle (or something) just after initial roll out. After starting the engine I could sit there for awhile and nothing happens, no light on the dash, everything is hunky dorry, but just after rollout, I figure about 1 to 2 wheel revolutions, the break peddle will vibrate (for lack of a better term). No ABS light, the brakes work just fine, just this weird peddle flicker after roll out. It's almost like the ABS system is checking or re-setting in same way once the wheels start moving.

It is really noticeable when backing down my drive-way since my foot is on the brake during this time. The brake peddle seems to shake/flicker/vibrate like it wants to go to the floor but it doesn't. I don't notice the van shuddering like the brakes are changing (gripping more or less at the wheel) during this time, just the brake peddle.

Any insight???

Re: ABS Breaks Cycle After Take Off

OK, I'm not into black magic so I know there would be a good explanation for this one. The Power Sliding Door was giving me problems for some time now along with the ABS brakes. The brakes were just recently worked with no change in the pulsating. However, last weekend my son calls me and says that moms van is dead, won't start. Alternater is good, so the battery is dead, jumped it and drove it home. Changed the battery and the PSD is working fine and no more pulsating ABS brakes. I'm assuming the power interruption forced some kind reset on both system's and now they are working fine.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Re: ABS Breaks Cycle After Take Off

My '92 Pontiac Transport did what you describe from day one. It was part of the ABS piston motor initialization. Just something to get used to. Our '00 Montana with ABS doesn't do it, or at least we don't feel it.
