98 gp se Intermittent AC problem

My ac works really great when it runs but sometimes it wont come on. No matter what i do i cant get it to come on sometimes. Took it to the dealer and $522 they said it was a loose connection at the fuse box. It worked great for a few weeks then it started working only everyonce in awhile again. Took it back and now they say its not getting power at hvac control fuse and at ignition switch side of conector. Faulty ignition switch. I dont wanna pay them the $450 more to fix it. So my question is...Does this sound like the problem and if the switch was replaced would it fix the problem? Any other possibilities?

do you have any other electrical anomalies like your DIC flashing on/off, dash lights, blower motor dropping speeds? If so, you could have a bad ignition switch/harness assembly.

The Air Bag light stays on most of them time however it will go off for days at a time. At night sometimes the headlights go off for no appearent reason and need to be turned on manually. Other then that not really lol.

Sorry I didn't welcome you before, Welcome to AF.

It sounds like your dealer is guessing. There is a known issue with the ignition switch/harness that will cause things like this to happen (the contacts get weak and start to arc). I would also have them check the underhood relay center for any corrosion on the underside if you live in a state that uses salt in the winter to clear the roads.
