Finally Got To Race The Stang.....

This raced took place about five minutes ago....well anyways this all started back when I raced at kingdon....parked in the pits I walk around to check out the cars and I noticed a 06 saleen 281 stang...was curious to see what it could do at the track but he never ran it....guess he was just a spectator....well months go by and I see the car again....I pace him alittle seeing if hell punch it but no luck...I keep my revs high and so does he...I was waiting for him to jump first but I guess he was donig the same.....ever since after that I kicked myself in the ass for not taking that opportunity....UNTIL FIVE MINUTES AGO....I can finally rest..... the offical race went down like this....coming back from the pet store I cruise home the longway....something I always do when im looking for fun....cruising along I see a blue 99 civic SI coming up behind me fast so I slow down...pace him alittle to see if he does something but nothing....all of a sudden I see the blue saleen pulling out of a parking lot coming into the right lane....I drop playing with the civic to slow down so the saleen would catch up....and little did you know he did....he then pulls onside of me and boom it just hit me....I start to remember what happend the first time...so this time I let him know im game....I open my cut-out and give him alittle blow off action....he smiles....luckly hes going the same way as me....didnt matter cause I would have took a different way home for this race anyways....all I was saying in my head was this is going to happen no matter what not going to let this one slip away again.....not wanting to go from a dig I stay behind him until I hit second gear....instantly I get on his right side....he smiles I nod.....he blips the throttle and not a milli second later I hit it....side by side we go through gears.....end of second still right next to me.....third still right next to me....end of third begining of fourth I start to pull...by the time we shut down his front bumper was right at my rear.....slowed down waiting for him to pull up.......

me: ohhhhhhhhhhh damn thing thing scoots....
him: hell yeah foo....this thing got 400hp
me: nice.....what have you done to it so far...
him: stock right now....I like those srts...your car is pretty quick itself...
me: thanks....
him: yeah.....its not much of a short distance runner but long distance this thing is a beast.....
me: wow really...
him: yeah I already got it up to 180mph....
me: have you raced any LS1s yet.....
him: no...
me: youll get them....

light turns green and he gives me a thumbs up and I give him one back....

honestly I dont know what the sc281 stands for....maybe someone can give us the specs on that car....

they have the 3v 4.6L V8's, 281 is the displacement of the motor is Cubic Inches's.
was it the new body style of mustang? i don't know where the guy got 400 hp from if it's stock, it either makes 465 if it's the supercharged one or 335 if it's not. then there's the S281 extreme which is like 550 hp.

the older S281's are stock 4.6L motors with suspension upgrades.

Edit. I thought we were talking about the old S281 which was pathetic. In the 2005 model Hp was rated at 325 and 400 for the SC version. Was it the SC? I am pretty sure you would have heard it.

I have always thought that saleens were rich boy poseur cars. Nice rich boy race. Did you give him the "you almost got beat by a neon" line. Will these things really go 180? I hate it when people use there speedometers for high speed runs. True speed and indicated speed can be significantly different.

Im not a mustang fan but no doubt his car is nice....beating something like that in my books is always an honor....expecially for my mods...if we would have raced long distance it wouldnt have looked good for me....it just tells me I need so serious upgrades if I keep racing cars like these....its just a matter of time until I run into a beastly 8 thats going to hand me my ass inside and out....
