Temperature blend actuator

On my 2000 Silverado the heater would run hot and I could not get it turned down. I read somewhere that the actuator was bad so I ordered one and installed it but it worked for about 1 sec ,long enough to go to one side (don't know if it is hot or cold, it is still hanging down from the dash) but now it will not work. Is there a method to getting it started such as pulling a fuse , disconnecting the neg post on battery, or something else I am missing. Do you suppose the gears are locked to one side or is the control knob bad.

Re: Temperature blend actuator

Bruce: Your truck has a BCM (body control module). The controls for the heater/ac system go thru that along with a lot of other body functions.

MOST of the problems you described are fixed with a new control/switch panel. If you take the blend door motor out and leave it plugged in will it respond to commands? If not it's probably the control panel. There are ways to reset the BCM system, but I don't know what they are.

Maybe some guys who are familiar with the BCM resets will step in and help you out.

Just letting you know that someone is looking.

Re: Temperature blend actuator

Replace the control panel, Mine did the same thing, dealer replaced the actuator which did nothing to fix the problem. Finally replaced the control panel. luckily, mine was under an extended warranty. I dont think that the control panel was cheap.
