no start when hot

my 96 se 3.1 wont start when i make a quick stop at the store. it will crank and catch but bounce between 500 and 750 rpm for about 4 seconds then die and wont restart until it sits for about 30 mins. then runs fine. no codes set or stored. as i recall my Berreta did this and it turned out to be a failing fuel pump. is there a schraeder valve somewhere that i can check the fuel pressure at when its in the non-start condition?

yes there is a shrader valve, on a 31, its located on the end of the rail towards the power steering pump. Sounds a little more to me like its ignition related. Get it so it doesnt run, then check for spark and fuel pressure. Post your results and the rest of us will be able to help a little better.

Re: no start when hot

Tblake is correct but

All GM 3100 Vin M and J engines and 3400 Vin E have a Schrader valve to check fuel pressure. BTW - Gauge is an Actron brand.

Re: no start when hot

thanks for the info guys. got it to the no-start condition in the driveway and checked, no fuel pressure. anything else i should be looking for before i change the fuel pump and filter? and would it be a good idea to cut out a service hatch in the trunk while the gas tank is out?
