two quick questions

First one, I'll be damned if I can find the MAP sensor on my 95 ciera 3100SFI. I see nothing that resembles the autozone repair guides.

Second. Please don't laugh. I'm trying to check fuel pres. I don't have the right tool so I improvised. I use da tire pres gauge. I know retarded right?

I get 30 psi when engine is runing. Is this reliable, or do I need the real tool? when I disconect the regulator from the vacum line, it goes to 33.

Re: two quick questions

Top center of the intake toward the back.
Here is a small pic ...

On your second delima I dont see how you got the tire guage even on the shradder valve as its bigger then a tire valve stem...
But no its not accurate, you'll need the fuel pressure gauge with the right valve connector.
I forget the exact FP , but it should be at least 40 psi at idle.

hope that helps

Re: two quick questions

I must be blind cause I just flat out don't see the sensor there!

By the looks of that photo, it should be sitting right in front of the ICM, bolted to the intake plenum. My ICM is just bolted right to the plenum.

Re: two quick questions

Yeah that is from a new 3.1/3.4.

Pretty sure It is right under the ICM/coils.
I'll get a pic of a 95 later today and post that.

Re: two quick questions

The evap selanoid sensor is right behind the ICM.

Thats the only sensor I see witha vacum hose going to it.

Re: two quick questions

I've got the 3100 SFI

There is just no sensor there... Wierd... I'm not missing any sort of wire connector either. Nor is there any vacum line not attached anywhere

Re: two quick questions

You can see from the first shot that there just is nothing there. (and yes I know I'm missing a screw on the ICM bracket. Fell through the engine compartment and was lost!)

The second shot is behind the ICM looking at what I belive is the evap purge selanoind sensor

One other thing I just noticed. On my engine, I have a vacum line coming off the intake plenum that goes back to a hard plastic purple line. You can see it going into the wire loom in the second shot. When I look at the photo you haev up there, that line seems to go to the MAP.

It's funny cause when I went to change the plugs and belt (which started this entire foray) I noticed that the hose goign to that purple line was rotted away. That was the very first thing that I replaced! I wonder if this is somehow related...

Re: two quick questions

Well I took it to pep boys this weekend. The guy was able to scan it and it poped up with a 12 code. poking aro0und he figured it was the MAF. I guess that's why I don't have a MAP. You either have a MAP or a MAF?

Anyway, the real trouble with lack of power is gone. however he did say that his KV scan showed 6 and 2 not firing properly every time. He thinks its the plugs, so ill change them one more time. I may also still have gummed up injectors, so a fuel system flush is in order.

I hope this fixes it!
